Canoes are a great family watersport activity. Not only are river or lake paddling trips fun but they are also a great form of exercise. When I was a kid we use to borrow my brothers canoe load it up with gear and head out to one of the bay islands for a week end camping trip. On other days we would use the same water craft to explore the creeks, go crabbing, fishing and sometimes spearfishing. The canoe lasted for years and stood up to all the abuse my brothers and I could give it. Unlike the powerboats I owned later in life it was this canoe that fostered a life long love of the water.
